Chart / September

While in Greece I made a decision regarding the Writing/Publishing/Notgoingnuts cycle. And so: Watch this space for something new coming soon. Also expect a bunch of articles about that most fetishised and (perhaps) played-out of genres: cyberpunk. Some artwork samples. A mixtape. A launch page/newsletter (maybe….). And probably some ruminations on ecopunk and solarpunk and other punks I’m not yet aware of.

In other news: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. What a book. The kind of book you’d sell your soul to write. Wonderful.

Punk chart for September:

1. IDLES - White Privilege

2. S.O.D. - Fist Banging Mania

3. Hot Little Hands - Degeneration

4. Chelsea Wolfe - 16 Psyche

5. Screaming Trees - Troubled Times

6. Municipal Waste - Unleash the Bastards

7. Thee Oh Sees - The Dream

Chart / August

Woody’s roundup: this month I had a short story about HUNGER and CLIMATE finally published in the eclectic, evocative, effervescent, and essential publication The Ocotillo Review (as they describe themselves). Sadly, it is exclusively available in print and needs to be purchased in order to be read, so I guess nobody will be doing that. In By the Feet of Men news, I did an interview on climate writer Joe Follansbee’s website, and moaned about publishing being who you know rather than what you can write.

I’m in Greece at the moment collecting experiences from refugees living in Athens and Samos, after which I’ll hopefully be able to write and publish a couple of articles on their ongoing plight. It’s ridiculous, really: five years after the European migrant crisis, as it is known, and still human beings (including minors) are being forced to exist under tarpaulins in 40-degree weather while the EU - second largest economy in the world - ignores the hell out of them.

Post/pre-lockdown tunes:

  1. Klô Pelgag - Rémora

  2. Manu Katché - Keep On Trippin’

  3. Trentemøller - Miss You

  4. My Sleeping Karma - Psilocybe

  5. Daisy Pusher - While Wailing (Only a Part)

  6. Arenna - Move Through Figurehead Lights

  7. Diana Krall - A Case of You

By the Feet of Men: The Movie

I’m still holding out for Netflix to snap up the rights to By the Feet of Men and turn it into a mediocre movie that gets pushed for a week and then quietly disappears. In the meantime, there is this two-minute video.

Music by Blue Loop.
